The Miss Mattie Foundation was started by a group of her former kindergarten students who wanted to give something back to Miss Mattie for the love, joy, and early education she gave to them. Knowing that she didn’t want anything that glorified her, a scholarship program was the ideal way to honor her. The scholarship applications are designed and graded according to the student’s commitment to community service and their financial need to ensure that these deserving students can realize their full potential.
